Kinja'd!!!

I woke up in the middle of the night with crazy chills but no fever; two hours later it was 103 degrees. Even though it’s 78 degrees inside the house I had a heavy blanket covering me as well as heart from the heated mattress pad, yet I was still shaking. The fever is now down to 100-101, which is probably close to normal since I use an in-ear thermometer, and with those normal is defined as 99.5 degrees.

I have been taking in plenty of fluids, but I really can’t eat. I tried to eat some mashed potatoes, but only got through a few bites. I did have a sore throat this morning but that seems to be gone now. My body still aches and I’m essentially out of energy, just sitting here in bed trying not to puke. My head is still pounding despite taking some naproxen and ibuprofen.

With any luck this is just temporary. Being unemployed I don’t have any insurance, so waiting this out is about all I can do. I have been isolating at home except for those rare occasions when I go to the grocery store/pharmacy, keeping my distance from everyone and always wearing my mask. I’m trying to do whatever I can to avoid infection, but maybe that’s not enough...

You should be able to get tested for free, at least.

See if you can find someone with an oximeter, because very low blood oxygen levels are a danger sign that you should go to the hospital.

And call your state’s health department for other resources.

Good luck.

See about testing sites where you are. That should be free.

I’ll say again that I hate that our country’s healthcare system is so broken, and that you are stuck dealing with it.

From my understanding, a dry cough is one of the hallmarks of this virus. If you don't have that, you might be ok as far as covid goes. Crossing my fingers for you!

Hope you’re OK and it’s not Covid. You might want to look up drive through testing locations in your state. Good luck and healing thoughts!

P. S. US healthcare costs can suck an egg.

I hope you don’t have it. Seems like you have taken all necessary precautions. I have not been sick since february, we have been so darn careful since the initial outbreak.

I’ll be praying for you. Relax, drink lots of water, and keep monitoring your symptoms. You’re welcome to rant here anytime.

Most people have very mild cases and require no treatment at all, except rest at home for a week. Most of the people who I’ve tested who were a bit more ill (still not hospitalized) had a different virus. People with compromised immune systems may have a little rougher time. Good luck.

I hope you get past whatever it is quickly. You should be able to get (Covid) tested for free.

I got tested a few weeks ago (as an essential government worker person, not for symptoms). It isn’t bad. It is deeply unpleasant for about 20 seconds as they poke your brain stem with the swab up each nostril for 10 seconds each, but that’s it. No pain, and you’re back to as fine as you were before the second the swab comes out.

My thanks to everyone here for your good wishes. I’m feeling much better now after sleeping t he day away. Unfortunately that means insomnia now at 0500, so I’m sitting in bed watching old episodes of Project Binky . Fever is down to about 1.5 degrees above normal which is far better than the 3.5-4 above from earlier. Sore throat gone, no chills, no headache. I even had a bite too much to  eat. My lower legs seem a little fatigued, but that’s been going on for several days - I’m trying to get back into shape, or at least a shape other than ‘round’.

I have no idea what caused all of those symptoms yesterday. It scared the hell out of me how quickly I disintegrated, with seemingly hundreds of symptoms occurring in the span of just an hour or two. Now I’m more-or-less back to a state that could be defined as normal. Still not terribly healthy, but normal...
